He holds a Bachelor’s degree in Economics from L.N. Gumilyov Eurasian National University (ENU) in Astana, Kazakhstan.
He subsequently completed a Master’s degree at Lille 1 University of Science and Technology in France. He is fluent in Kazakh, Russian, English and French.
Ulanbek currently heads the Sol Partners representative office in the Republic of Kazakhstan. Across Central Asia the company has established partnerships with key diversified holdings and major industrial companies.
Ulanbek Makhanbetov began his HR career in 2017 at the Corporate University of Samruk-Kazyna National Welfare Fund JSC in the Republic of Kazakhstan, where he held the position of Human Resources Consultant. In 2019 he led the recruitment function at Kazakhstan Temir Zholy JSC (Kazakhstan Railways). By implementing process management in the HR department Ulanbek ensured the closure of over 200 projects per month. He also participated in the creation of a qualified succession pool for the organisation’s Central Office.
Subsequently Ulanbek Makhanbetov headed the recruitment department at Eurasian Resources Group (ERG), an international group of companies engaged in mineral resource extraction and processing, where he was responsible for recruitment strategy and for building a unified and flexible recruitment process across the entire group in Russia, Kazakhstan, Brazil, Luxembourg, the Netherlands, African countries, the UAE and Saudi Arabia.
